Kongsberg Secures Major Maritime Defence Contracts in Late 2025 for Submarines and Coastal Systems

Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace announced key maritime defence deals in November-December 2025, including a NOK 3.5 billion combat system contract upgrade for German and Norwegian 212CD submarines and Denmark valued in excess of EUR 100 million, plus upgrades for German 212A submarines' navigation systems. All three deals bolster NATO allies capabilities for anti-submarine warfare in coastal approaches.

Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, a premier provider of advanced defence and maritime systems, recently secured several key contracts in the maritime sector during late 2025. These deals demonstrate Kongsberg Defence & Aerospaces increased role in supporting NATO naval capabilities against emerging security challenges in North Atlantic and Baltic regions.

Combat System for 212CD Submarines

Kongsberg has signed a NOK 3.5 billion contract to deliver the ORCCA combat system to four 212CD submarines for the German Navy and two for the Royal Norwegian Navy. This follows Norways announcement earlier in December 2025 to acquire two additional 212CD submarines beyond the four already ordered, pending parliamentary approval.

With this order, Norway and Germany will operate a fleet of 12 modern submarines equipped with what is described as the industrys most advanced combat system. Eirik Lie, President of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, emphasized: Submarines are an important strategic capability, helping to deter potential adversaries and strengthen the defense of national interests.

Denmark Acquires NSM Coastal Defence System

The Danish government has contracted Kongsberg for the Naval Strike Missile Coastal Defence System (NSM CDS), valued at more than EUR 100 million. This system includes Kongsbergs advanced fire control, NSM missiles, and launch pads, providing Denmark with cutting-edge coastal artillery to counter modern naval threats.

Denmarks acquisition of NSM CDS extends its presence from the Baltic Sea to the North Sea, expanding operational capabilities and making Denmark one of five NATO nations to use the system, along with Poland, USA Marine Corps, Romania and Latvia. Kjetil R Myhra of Defence Systems noted this is further evidence of NSM CDSs role as NATO allies' leading land and mobile coastal artillery solution.

Denmark had earlier signed for NSM missiles for its frigates, further integrating Kongsbergs technology into its naval fleet.

Navigation Systems for German 212A Submarines

Kongsberg won an order valued at over NOK 600 Million to supply four navigation systems to the German Navy's 212A submarine refit program, announced December 18th 2025. This deal supports modernizing existing submarine assets while increasing precision and reliability underwater operations.

Strategic Expansion and Related Developments

Complementing these maritime wins, Kongsberg announced the acquisition of California-based Zone 5 Technologies LLC, entering high-volume production of affordable missiles like Rusty Dagger, White Spike, and Paladin. While primarily air defence focused, this bolsters Kongsbergs strike capabilities relevant to maritime threats.

Kongsbergs submarine combat, navigation, and coastal defence solutions continue to strengthen its position within the maritime defence market. Their products play a critical role in NATO interoperability and deterrence operations within contested waters.
