Pacific Radiance Strengthens Offshore Wind Fleet With CTV Delivery and Expansion

Pacific Radiance, an APAC offshore vessel operator, recently received Prosperous 6 from Chartwell Marine - an efficient crew transfer vessel capable of exceeding 25 knots during trials with superior fuel efficiency. Based on this success, Pacific Radiance committed to five additional vessels to meet rising offshore wind demand across Taiwan, South Korea and Japan.

Pacific Radiance, a prominent owner and operator of offshore vessels in the Asia-Pacific region, has marked a significant milestone in supporting the regions growing offshore wind sector.

Delivery of Prosperous 6 Crew Transfer Vessel

Chartwell Marine announced the delivery of Prosperous 6, a next-generation Brevity Class crew transfer vessel (CTV), to Pacific Radiance as part of their strategic partnership. The vessel has completed successful sea trials, reaching speeds exceeding 25 knots at 85% engine load, demonstrating exceptional fuel efficiency. During bollard push tests, it delivered over 17 tons of thrust, and at 20 knots, it consumed approximately 20% less fuel than comparable competitor vessels.

Designed with a light lightship displacement, Prosperous 6 supports payloads of up to 35 tons, making it ideal for demanding offshore operations. The vessels large superstructure accommodates multiple crews and technicians, and it complies with loadline requirements tailored for APACs offshore wind challenges. This delivery underscores Chartwell Marines pioneering role in high-performance vessel design.

Commitment to Fleet Expansion

Impressed by the vessels performance, Pacific Radiance has committed to constructing five additional Brevity Class CTVs with Chartwell Marine. These vessels are in high demand across APAC, with strong interest from offshore wind developers in Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan. The partnership highlights the growing need for efficient, locally buildable vessels that leverage regional content and workforce.

The Brevity Class design can be constructed at shipyards throughout APAC, promoting scalability and cost-effectiveness for operators like Pacific Radiance. This expansion positions Pacific Radiance to capitalize on the regions accelerating offshore wind projects, where reliable crew transfer capabilities are essential.

Strategic Importance for Offshore Wind

Pacific Radiance's investment reflects broader trends in the maritime sector, where offshore wind farms require specialized vessels for technician transport and maintenance. The fuel-efficient profile of Prosperous 6 aligns with industry pushes toward sustainability, potentially qualifying for green certifications.

With one vessel delivered and five more ordered, Pacific Radiance is poised to strengthen its foothold in this high-growth market. Chartwell Marines adaptable designs offer versatility for diverse operational needs, from high-speed transfers to heavy payload handling.

This development comes amid global maritime focus on renewable energy support vessels, with APAC emerging as a key hub for offshore wind expansion.
