OSIL Provides Advanced Dredge Monitoring Buoy Networks to Van Oord Amid Growing Marine Environmental Demand

Ocean Scientific International Ltd (OSIL) recently supplied Van Oord with nine integrated data buoy systems from Ocean Scientific International Ltd to monitor real-time dredge plume and environmental conditions during global dredging projects, thus increasing operational efficiencies. OSILs expertise in marine monitoring solutions with over 800 systems worldwide supporting critical infrastructure compliance as well as environmental compliance is evident through this deployment.

OSIL Provides Van Oord with Dredge Monitoring Buoy Network

Ocean Scientific International Ltd (OSIL), a leader in marine environmental monitoring systems, recently provided nine fully integrated multi-discipline data buoy networks to global contracting firm Van Oord for use during dredging operations by providing real-time information about plumes and environmental conditions in real time. These systems serve to support operations by continuously gathering real-time information regarding plume activity as well as environmental conditions around them.

Van Oord's buoys incorporate water quality sondes from their existing equipment pool and relay them via GSM and Iridium satellite Short Burst Data (SBD), as backup. Equipped with solar power and backup batteries for reliable operation and data transmission to webpages or internet-enabled devices via GSM radio or satellite connectivity.

OSIL stands out in their marine solutions portfolio as a premier provider, boasting more than 800 data buoys deployed globally for environmental monitoring of dredging and offshore activities.

OSIL Vibrocorer Supports UK River Thames Flood Defense Initiative

OSILs Vibrocorer system has played a critical role in the early works phase of the PS600 Million River Thames Scheme - an ambitious UK flood defense project aiming to protect 15,000 homes and businesses along its riverine course from flood damage. Construction work includes creating new flood channels, walls, embankments and improvements to existing defenses along the Thames riverbanks.

OSIL's Vibrocorer seabed sampling equipment allows precise geotechnical assessments that are essential to the foundation and structural integrity of this project. OSIL is proud of their longstanding history of providing robust sampling tools in marine environments for civil engineering projects of large-scale civil construction.

Real-Time Marine Monitoring Improved with New Data Integration into Web Systems

OSIL recently introduced two Data to Web systems from OSIL; Falcon (standalone) and Falconet (integrated). Both solutions offer cost-effective ways of transmitting, storing, hosting and presenting sensor data in real time on dedicated websites. Compatible with GPRS/GSM/radio or satellite communication services these retrofittable systems integrate easily with almost any sensor while remaining password secured for added security.

These innovations address the maritime sector's need for easily accessible, flexible environmental data management - supporting applications from coastal monitoring to offshore operations.

OSIL Strengthens ADCP Deployment with Custom Testing Frames

OSIL has designed and engineered a custom deployment frame for SonTeks Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP), a 3-axis water current profiler with a 180-meter range designed to reduce side-lobe interference. The frame comes equipped with two Sonardyne acoustic releases for safe and secure testing deployments.

OSILs focus on integrated systems for MetOcean data collection is evident here as this development enhances accuracy and safety when profiling currents in marine environments.

OSILs Expand Role in Marine Tech Landscape

OSIL's expertise lies in IAPSO Standard Seawater calibration and instrument calibration; their specialties also include instrumented MetOcean data buoys, multi-parameter monitoring platforms, water column and seabed sampling equipment, including launch/recovery systems - as well as custom designed, global installations and ongoing support of marine environmental technologies. OSIL stands at the forefront of marine environmental technologies.

The market for powered data buoys was estimated at USD139 Million in 2025 and projected to experience compound annual compound annual growth rate of 2.9% between 2032-2040, driven by rising maritime security needs as well as defense, oil & gas, and offshore operations - sectors in which OSIL solutions excel.
