MetOcean Telematics of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia has achieved multiple significant milestones this year to consolidate its position in satellite communications for maritime, military and environmental applications.
Government of Canada Awarded Iridium Contract
On September 9, 2025, MetOcean Telematics announced they had been awarded a major contract by the Government of Canada through Shared Services Canada. The agreement positions MetOcean as one of their key suppliers for Iridium satellite voice and data airtime, hardware, and accessories to federal agencies supporting land and maritime operations both domestically and internationally.
Contract agreements between MetOcean Telematics and Iridium ecosystem partners to provide Iridium Short Burst Data and Certus services are becoming more frequent, providing reliable communications in remote or extreme environments such as Arctic patrols or international peacekeeping missions. Tony Chedrawy, CEO of MetOcean Telematics highlighted their decade-long support of Canadian operations; award is testament to their expertise. Tim Last, Iridiums Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing applauded MetOceans collaboration as providing weather resilient L-band connectivity solutions.
MetOceans' renewal builds upon an existing contract, expanding MetOceans' role in defence and IoT sectors with global Iridium network coverage--including Polar regions.
Partner with Western Weather Group for Weather Monitoring
On November 13th 2025, MetOcean Telematics and Western Weather Group of Chico, California collaborated to deliver integrated remote weather monitoring solutions. The partnership brings together WWGs instrumentation expertise for deployment and forecasting with MetOceans Iridium L-band satellite connectivity and Campbell Scientific data loggers from MetOcean Telematics.
This turnkey system caters to utilities, agriculture and weather-sensitive industries that rely on reliable data from site to cloud in difficult environments like wildfire-prone regions. WWGs CR1000Xe data logger integrates sensors with MetOceans STREAM+ platform for low power consumption and sub one minute latency; over 100 units have already been deployed for one major California utility with 525 more on order demonstrating resilience without large-scale outages.
Brandon Sullivan, WWGs Chief Product Officer, highlighted how this partnership reaches uncharted areas. Tony Chedrawy highlighted its complementary strengths which help simplify operations for clients requiring continuous data flow.
