Over the last month, Damen Shipyards Group celebrated the keel-laying of Herman Seniors MPV 4916 Smokey at Albwardy Damen in Dubai as well as having its LST100 design selected by US Navy for its Landing Ship Medium program. Meanwhile, Dutch authorities arrested two individuals at Damen premises for possible Russia sanctions violations; with which Damen is fully cooperating.
Offshore construction activity over the month has seen wind cable installation progress in the US, new multi-purpose support vessel orders in Europe, and next generation construction support equipment contracts across Asia. Taken together, these suggest an industry tentatively increasing capacity and capability while effectively managing costs and meeting shifting project schedules.
The last few months have also seen moves throughout the offshore supply vessel segment both on the fleet investment and technology upgrade fronts. Damen and Windcat part unveiled a multi purpose accommodation support vessel series; DOF and Petrobras advanced long term Brazilian charters; Tidewater exercised options within a major retrofit program; while Sea1 Offshore progressed high capability construction tonnage with advanced crane packages.
Shipbuilder Damen Shipyards was in November 2025 settling sue-at-law for bribery, sanctions violation and forgery leading to 6-16 while securing contracts for special offshore ships and growing green shipbuilding presence in Vietnam and Canada.
